LS1 to LS6
Ok, i dont want to do anything crazy and maintain total reliability and driveability. So i am seriously considering buying stock LS6 heads w/ a LS6 cam. My only question is where can i purchase these factory parts? GM? Aftermarket? Thanks.

These parts are available in the for sale section all the time, or you could go the route I did and just buy an LS6 crate motor, add a few bolt ons and a nice dynotune and enjoy over 400 rwhp and tq while having a 50,000 mile warranty on the motor and decent gas milage while smoking alot of other cars in a race.

There's a company that sells a "conversion kit" for what you are looking for. just can't remember the name of the place. However, it's not going to be worth the hassle. You can have over 400 wheel horsepower and still maintain 100% reliability/driveability. You will lucky to get that much with a maxed out combo using stock LS6 heads and cam + full bolt on's.

How much power do you want to make? I would read through the internal engine section here, lots of info there. There are too many brands/manufacturers out there to reccomend just one. With the AFR 205 heads you could easily make 425 at the wheels and still be almost as reliable as stock. Go do some reading in the internal section.

if you wanted a reliable setup without too much hassle, you could order a set of heads from GM parts along with an asa cam, but would be better off in the long run getting some aftermarket pieces like the 205's and a nice cam from someone like TSP, such as the 224 or 228 cam, have it tuned nicely and have a very streetable setup. It would have to have the supporting bolt on mods though like headers, timing chain, intake, etc... to be truly enjoyable and effective.
FWIW, I'm selling my ZO6/LS6 cam and springs when I step up to the magic stick later this year, so if the timing is right.....
