Default Rear hatch squeak/rattle

This is the third TA i've had and everyone of them has squeaked from the hatchback. It's the most annoying sound sound.. just like a high pitch squeak..Anyone know what that is? I tightened the bolts and nothing will make it go away when i go over bumps.. just a high pitch... Any ideas? Thanks

Don't buy one of these cars if you can't live with such things.
Just think of your car as a beast, and such quirks like that are part of its charm.

Have you checked the spare tire and jack? Mine use move ever so slightly when hitting bumps. Once I pulled them out, no more squeaks. Takes only 5 minutes to try.

On my 93 it ended up being the struts that hold the hatch open.

I am having the EXACT same problem with my car and still havent really looked into it that much. Although I did drive through a parking garage with the windows down and that sound seemed like it was outside also. Someone mentioned to me that it might be the rear shock on the driver's side. Please let me know if you figure it out though...

My squeek was coming from the hinges for the rear seat and the 'stud' that it clips onto when its upright, i just lubed the hinges and wrapped electrical tape around the studs and no more squeeks

I'm pretty sure mine wasn't that because I have been riding around with the rear seat folded down also.

Mine was the exhaust hanger on the passenger's side squeeking. I had to really rig something up to shut it up. Ended up pulling the hanger, coating the rubber part with grease, then putting the hanger back on, and wrapping it with duct tape. I tried everything and it FINALLY shut up after that.

Tough break on dealing with a company as crappy as eD. They do a good job as silencing their multiple screw ups though. Next time get some Peel and Seal from your local Home Depot or Lowes, its the same thing as eDead, cheaper, and you can get it locally.
