I think they want way to much for it. KBB says its 16,000 and I actually think thats a little high. What do you all think?

and KBB sucks. financial institutions use NADA. and the NADA value of that car is approx. 18,575. 16k for a lower milage 01 SS would be a pretty good price. i could almost guarantee the dealership wont go that low. they might drop to 18k.

That car looked mint. Condition DOES dictate price when dealing with F-bodies, as most are ragged on big time. LS1's are doing stupid high money at the auctions around here, a dealer probably wouldn't be able to buy that thing around here for less than 18.5k.

Time of year, the very limited availability of clean examples, desirability... The higher price the dealer pays to acquire the car is then passed on to the customer.
Dealers seem high because private parties are so low... The reason that private parties are on average $2k-4k less than dealers is a reflection of the buyer not being able to finance, purchase any type of warranty, or have any kind of recourse on the seller when **** breaks.

Maybe it depends on year, and location, but I bought mine in vry good condition w/31,000 miles on it for $15k last year. That was w/all my current mods minus the heads/cam. And that was from a dealer..

way high. especially for a z28. not that a z28 is bad but the ws6 and SS book out for a lot more and they dont even go for that normally, usually around 19 is where i see 01 and 02 WS6s and SS's. and i bet the dealer paid less for it cuz its a manual. id say 16,5 max. and im with the other guy who said KBB is ****. its rigged to be dealer friendly. you should see the blackbooks they use at auction. those cars in there for wholesale are only like 15-16k. if they feed you "kelley's says" tell em to shove it up there ***. dude, i just booked it out on NADA and it only retails for 16,5 keep shopping.

First off, that is an SS. I doubt someone with a Z28 would go that far to clone one.
You guys need to look at all of the variables in the equation. Comparing the New York, San Diego or Chicago markets to
is absolutely ridiculous. I bet there is a clean black 2001 SS on every corner. That being said, I think if he saved you a couple grand you'd be in pretty good shape.

well maybe he should spend $200 on a plane ticket to save thousands on a car, because that is alot of money for a car, especially as he says he does not care about the amount of miles on the odometer. I couldnt find a good deal on a car in NY last year, so I spent $100 to rent a car and drive to philly. Saved $2-3 grand over what was up here.

I would say that if you could get that car for 18,500 or less it is well worth it. I bought mine for 17k with 30k on it, bought it straight out of the garage where it spent its whole life. Paying the extra money is worth it for a clean/non abused fbody IMO.
