Default Avg Gas Mileage of Automatic LS1?

What is the general concensus on the kinda gas mileage a auto LS1 gets. I was reading something like 18 city 24 hwy, but thought the hwy mileage was kinda low as the 6spds are rated at 28mpg. Hell my L98(350 TPI) in my '91 GTA gets 25MPG with 3.23's. Just curious guys. Thanks for any input.

Worst I ever got with my 2001 SS (stock) was 18 MPG... that tank had a few 155+ MPH runs on it.

Normal combined city/hwy 24~ best hwy 28.

That's about what I got on stock 3.23's. When I put in 3.73's it went down to about 18 hwy, but a 25% u/d pulley brought it back up to 22hwy. Hope that helps.

First tank of gas: 16mpg. This was my first tank of gas, lots of flooring it and tire spinning to help explain to my friends/family why I bought the car. I expect about 18-19mpg city without all of the "abuse", and don't know about a good highway estimate yet.

This is with a 3:23 A4 TA.

I get 20 MPG in mine in daily driving, and over 30 on a pure highway trip.

U/D pullies help gas mileage that much? I know pretty much all bolt ons increase gas mileage so what are some full bolt-ons MPG numbers like? Whenever I get my LS1 I'm pretty much stickin to just bolt ons for a while.

And, do 3.73s or 4.10s really help gas mileage in the city? I know they kill it on highway

U/D pullies don't typically help mileage by 4 mpg, and gear ratio won't affect city driving if you shift at the same rpms as before.

16-17 city & 23-24 hwy @ 80mph stock w/3.23's or 3.42's. More w/2.73's. City mpg goes down as soon as the hi-stall converter goes in.

Have you ever looked at the gearing difference between an A4 & M6? The M6 should get better highway mileage every time (stock engines) due to the final drive ratio of the M6 in 6th gear.
My A4 has consistently made 25-28 mpg since day one highway speeds, until I installed headers (no tuning). I get pretty much ~25 now, but that is not at a steady cruising speed on the roads I run to work and back.
(sometimes 55, sometimes 80-up and down).
Gotta love these engines.
