i just bought a 2000 gmc hd2500 rolling chassis with the motor and tranny. the motor is the 6.0 and the tranny is a 4l80e...what is this motor called..i bought it for 500 and the motor runs. i have plans of putting it into my 1991 chevy fullsize 1500 shortwide with the 5speed that it came stock with? anything that you guys know that would sure be appreciated. thanks(what is the actual name of this motor..an LQ4?)

yes it is an lq4 for sure if it is a 2500, because the only way it could be the lq9 is if it was a 1500 which would be the ss or a cadillac esc. or denali. (if it is indeed a 6 liter)

Should be an LQ4 that you bought (iron block aluminum heads)
What came stock in a 91 1500 with a 5 speed is usually a 4.3 V6 (IIRC that was the only engine available with a 5 speed)

yeah that is the setup that came in my 91' yeah its a 6.0 out of a 2500.. any more help? ah and i read that almost every part, if not every part, interchangess from this motor to and ls motor( 4.8 5.3 5.7 ) am i correct..?(external motor parts and mod parts, of course not most internals besides maybe connecting rods)

Alot of the parts do interchange, but in some cases mods are needed to make the them work correctly.
