Default which LS1 to buy?

hey guys, new to the boards. im sure you guessed by my username ive got a cobra but anywaaaaaayyyyy.

ive also got a 96 S-10 which i will be dropping an LS1 into. i have my choices down to 4 motor and trans packages. i am clueless to any differences between them so i would apreciate your guys help with this.

98 out of a vette with 30k with a rebuilt auto: $3750

99 out of a trans am/camaro with 91k with an auto: $2800

01 out of a trans am/camaro with 64k with an auto: $3450

02 out of a trans am with 47k with an auto: $4000

im going to be leaving the motor mostly stock with maybe a few bolt ons. im not building a hotrod but a lowered truck with an LS1 for more power and show purposes ect.

i just want to know any differences between the years and the one that came out of the vette. and your guys opinion on the mileage.

thanks,
-Blane

01 or 02 is better because of the LS6 Intake Manifold Get the 01 Eng/Trans and spend the cash you saved with not getting the 02 and Cam that bitch!

i have been throwing around the idea of a cam MAYBE. im sure the one out of the vette is tuned alittle more but not to terribly important for what im doing? is mileage a big issue with these motors? as far as 30k compared to 60k? im leaning away from the 91k motor.

i just realized there was a forum for ls1's in non ls1 vehicles. i figure this is more of a technical question on the engines and not about the swap but if this is the wrong forum i apologize.

I'd go with the '01. If you plan on making any kind of power, the tranny will need a rebuild by someone who knows their **** (I wouldn't buy a generic rebuilt 4L60E).

Your lips flap entirely too much without saying anything...

But hey, whatever. If this board doesn't care, I certainly don't...

The 01 and 02 are better too because the PCM has a good OS for tuning. The 98's suck big time.
