Default Induction

I am new to LS1tech. I have owned a 1999 T/A since 2001. I have done some simple mods such as changed out the air box, installed a throttle body spacer, bought a programer and installed a Corsa cat back exhaust. I'm thinking about changing out the intake. I have been looking at the Fast LSX 90mm composite intake. This intake is $375.00 more than the LS6 intake. is it that much better than the LS6 intake. Also should I add larger fuel rails and injectors? I'm also planning on installing a cam and having heads ported. Would appreciate some advice.

Yes, it is worth it. But, only really worth it IMO when you've upgraded your cam.

Look at the cam guide sticky in the internals forum for plenty of info, along with the stickies in the externals forum.

How about the fuel rails and injectors? Any suggestions on porting the heads?

Stock rails are fine. Injectors, depends on year of your car. Best to consult with shop when purchasing the cam.
Long Tubes come before a cam. Ported Throttle Body and Underdrive Pulley are proven support mods.
The only cam out there that is designed specifically for stock manifolds is the Thunder Racing CheaTR cam, so that's you're cam option if you don't want LT's.

Tue LS6 243 cnc ported castings are currently being sold for as cheap as $850 by Texas Speed, Patriot and Livernois.

TEA has a good 853/241 (LS1) head porting program if you wish to send in your own heads.

A plethora of 5.3L budget head options are out there.

Best would be to call a shop like Texas Speed and have them set up a package for your needs.

Any suggestions on long tube headers and underdrive pulleys? What is involved in getting your TB ported?

i mean you have a million diffrent options on long tubes depending on price
if you want to go the best i sugest kooks or QTP witch are both 800+ but well worth it
Or the cheaper hooker headers
or if moneys real tight pacesetters

I'm looking for what is best in the mid-range price. I'm not the best wrench turner either, but I'm planning on installing myself. So I also would like something that is not overly difficult to install. I tried to find some sites that carry Pacesetter headers but didn't have much luck. Can anyone recommend someone? By the way, I currently have a Corsa catback system on my ride.

honestly i think the LS6 will be plenty for his set up... even with a cam the extra 400 dollars youd spend on the lsx probably wouldnt be worth the extra 3-5hp

What got you most of that BIG gain was alll that nice opening up of the exhaust...

And tuning makes ALL the difference in *any* aftermarket package. It is impossible to achieve any kind of decent results, especially with extensive mods, w/out quality tuning.

BTW, does the LS2 IM fit the LS1 heads? If so, go that route. LS6 stuff is already old news...

LS2 manifold isn't exactly as good as we all hoped.
LS6 is solid.

you have way more mods and theres no way of telling exactly how many hp you gained on your application because youve added so many things at one time.. but on a cam only car and switching over to an LS6 intake to a Fast 90/90 combo the increases would be alot smaller compaired to your Tuned full bolt on h/c car

90/90 is helping many cars hit and surpass 450rwhp on mildish head/cam setups, and on cam only setups.
It's a very important mod. A cam only setup will benefit from it.
Mod purchase priority/sequence is ultimately up to the owner. When to plop down $1300 for the 90/90 is up to you.

i totally agree but where he is at the 1300 dollars could be spent on other things which will benefit him more now, like on a coated set of headers and y-pipe or something similar not on the intake IMO

true but either way on his set up right now the gains would still be small until he had more supporting mods (headers, cam, heads)
