Well like it says, my car just *feels* slow, i have the cut out closed although its going through a bullet so i dont see much loss there, it idles fine, drives fine and im getting relativly good gas milage for the car ~20mpg. Could this just be in my head? I mean is there something that can make me lose power but gain gas milage?

Getting any SES lights?

Do you have a scanner to see what your fuel trims and timing look like? Change air filter/fuel filter lately?

Sometimes weather/humidity can have an effect too.

Some times my car feels slow too. What happens is you get used to the power. What I do is I feather the gas pedal for a few days then drive as I use to and the power amazes me once again. People may also respond by saying 'start modding'.

But as rpm ws6 said, check that everything is ok and I know my car feels faster when its cold, so weather deffently has something to do with how the car responds, as was said by ws6.

Like the others have said, check the car out for knock retard and the other things mentioned.
Weather is going to affect it, but most likely it's just you've gotten used to the power, try driving a slower car for a few days, it'll feel like a rocket when you get back into it

I had the computer hooked up to it, fuel trims, iat, everything is good, no knock retard, so timing seems to be dead on, it was tuned a month or 2 ago and was at 13:1, im wondering if it could have steered away from that some how though, no ses lights, i just did my fuel filter a week or 2 ago, maybe its the sound thats making it psychological, i migh thave to open the cut out

Like other have said, try driving a 4 cyl. Toyota Camry for a few days and your Trans Am will feel like a god Damn New Ferrari.

Not exactly, my friend had his car tuned, it was set at a perfect AF, then a month or 2 later it started pinging at wot, so it went back on the dyno and the AF had changed from 13:1 to 14:1.

It is modded, but im lookin at a new motor now, should i put it on the dyno again>?

I noticed you have an auto. Manuelly shift thru the gears. Drive in 2nd, car will push with the slightest push of the peddal especially going over 40mph. Drive it on the freeway in 3rd gear. Drive in 1 gear neighborhood speed limit and watch people as they hold their hands over their ears and in wow of how the car eggerly jumps at the hit of the gas pedal it will be loud too. Every now and then i'll manuelly shift my tranny, always amazes me at how well it responds in lower gears.

instead of a new motor, why not rebuild it with forged bottom end.
that way youll be spending roughly the same and this way it wont feel as slow when you get some sort of forced induction.

as for feelin slow, youve gotten used to it.

It took about 1 month for my car to feel slow after the cam install. It was the same with each mod.

I would just take it to the track and get some good #'s. That always makes me feel better.

Well i would, but the reason im even replacing the motor is that there is a section where it was cast thin and now w/the ported pump its leaking oil so i have to replace the block

hey man, quick question on the cam, how much did it cost you with install and everything? Any noticable drop in MPG? did you replace anything else or just throw the cam in?

I actually did the cam myself, it was the first thing i did to the car other than the lid, it wasnt hard, just time consuming, so labor was 0, then just whatever the cost of cam and springs you want to get. Heres what i put in: TR224, comp 918's, and a ported/blueprinted ls6 pump. What you'll need is the front main seal, and a harmonic balancer bolt, and if you do the oil pump a pick-up tube o-ring, the only reason i did the pump was for peace of mind just because of the miles and i didnt want a spun bearing, which i regret now because with the increased oil volume it made the pores in my block more apparent.

I drove my LS1 a few days ago, felt nice but seemed not to have as much punch as I remember when I first got it. It actually took me a few weeks to feel comfortable with all that power...

I think about it now, I had been without an f-body for almost 3 months before I got my LS1. During that time I was driving my sister's accord. It was all in my head.

Since I drive my 88 Camaro in the winter, the jump to ls1 isn't as big as that withdrawal from econobox to ls1. mmm torque...

Nice...I'de like to put my own Cam in but I'm 19 and don't know what I would be doing....took me 3 days to install my springs myself.

How hard was the install for your first time? Is it to easy to mess something up? Was a tune required after you got it in? What were your noticable power gains?
