In a truck? It's not the best motor to mod. I put an intake and exhaust and MAF on my Silverado, and I only ran dead even with a 5.3. If you want power, don't buy a truck, unless you get a Lightning or something.

upgradable? yes worth it? take your pick. it cost the same money to modify a 4.8 a 5.3 or a 6.0 so most guy's will swap out a 4.8 and put a 6.0 in to upgrade. my advise dependng on money do all teh bolt on mod's because these bolt onto a 6.0 or a 5.3 then befor you start internal mod's get a 6.0 preferably. you can do head's and cam on a 4.8 and see nice gain's but they are much bigger gain's on a 6.0. als ohead's and cam can be put on the 4.8 then swapped onto a 6.0 later if you want to upgrade to a 6.0 also. I'm building a 6.0 for my truck right now and going to swap out the 4.8 for it. that's just what I'm planning though.

I'm just trying to to decide what engine to put in my 67' Camaro. Its not going to be a daily driver so I'm thinking LS1,LQ9,LT1 . I now there is an abundance of LT1's for cheap, but on the other hand the 6.0l would be a monster, and the LS1(5.7)would be nice too, but I dont know if I want to deal with the wiring and all that in any of them, though the LT1 would not be that bad I don't think . I just want 400+rwhp and I know I can get it from a LT1 easily and cheaper thean the LS1 and LQ9. But if I can find them cheap I'll jump on them !
