Vetterookie

SDM was removed in error by previous owner ('98 vette). Can't locate fuse to SIR in order to disable. Would it be careless of me to disconnect battery, let car sit a while and assume there would be no power while replacing module, or can someone help me with locating fuse? I have a maintenance CD, but the diagram of fuse box isn't the same as mine. I don't have owner's manual yet.
