Rearend or head & cam package
I Want to go for a huge upgrade but Im not sure what to do first, should I buy the heads & cam first or the rear end.Its the M6 (6speed). I have heard stories about the rears going out fast. I recently put BF G-force Drags on it and the diff is huge in launch, But will the Rear end hold up? Im so new at this stuff, its my first F-body.
Thanks for the advice--

If your an A4, then ur alright for now, but if your M6 (6speed) then you'll need an upgrade sooner or later.
But if it was me, i'd go heads and cam with a set of lower control arms. Thats me though

Go for the rear, the 10 bolt (on average) won't survive long with sticky tires and hard launches (especially on an M6).
Look at it this way, you get the rear, you won't be limited by it when you build your engine, and if you do the engine first, and you do break the 10 bolt, then you'll only have the cash for another 10 bolt (or have a broke car, and nothing fun to drive/race)

No, think of it this way, u wont always have 3k lying around for a hc swap, but you will usually have 300$ for a new 10bolt! or just dont go from a stop do all ur races from a roll until u get a good rearend, trust go for the power first.

It depends on what you want to do with the car. If your plan is 6K side steps off the clutch then you better go for an upgraded rear end 1st. If your building a highway warrior that will not see the 1320 then by all means go for the H/C upgrade.
Take my car for example power for high to mid 11's and i'm stuck in the 12's as I cannot run sticky tires for fear of breaking the 10 bolt.

I'm more of a do it once and do it right kind of person. So even if the 9" does take a little more power to turn, in my eyes it's worth it. People have broken 12 bolt's with far less than 1K hp. IMO for a 6 speed car there is no other choice than the 9".

a friend of mine had a high 10 sec. street / strip car on a stock 10 bolt, and he used stickies at the track. ( not FULL stickies, they had the groove in the center ) yes it was a M6 also. it's just my opinion and others will disagree, but build your car up and dont worry about the rear end, when it breaks, then you replace it. that's my plans, no need to fix something that ain't broken! ( yet )
