Default Cam Help

I just finished with my first couple of mods and now I think I'm ready for a cam, but need some help. I just put Pacesetter Longtubes on, catless 3" true duals, Ported TB, SLP Lid. What kind of cam would you'll recommend? Also, what other parts what should I get for the cam install? I would like to use my stock heads if possible. Shoot me some suggestions.

IF you have a 1998 -2000 you would need a LS6 Ported Oil Pump, would be wise to get a Double roller timing chain, as for cam, man it just depends on were you want to go with it and how much power you want. I myself am going with the TSP Magik Stick 3 from Texas-Speed. They are a sponsor......Check them out....

well you can actually do a lot with the stock heads. Its actually very possible to put 400 hp to the ground on a stock set of heads, without using a huge cam. sounds like you exhaust is taken care of... If you don't have an 01, or 02 you might think about adding an ls6 intake as well, and then throwing the cam on. Only thing is how much you are planning on driving the car, and what kind of economy you are interested in achieving. The thunder racing 224/224 is a nice cam for low to 6500 rpm power and economy. But other sponsor carry a similar cam setup. If you have an A4, you might want to consider getting a stall converter first. This will greatly increase the effectiveness of the cam...

I agree. And if you have a tuner in mind around your area, you might want to ask them what they've seen and had luck with. Check with Texas-Speed for a complete install package, they'll hook you up!

I think a stall is my next mod. I have a ported TB and a lid on the way. There is a tranny shop here in town that is going to build me a stall for about 150, so looks like next weekend I'm spending the night under my car. As far as a cam goes, I want one that will give me some descent power, but at the same time I drive this car everyday. Do I need to replace the springs and retainers when I do the cam install? Just got back from the track today. I'm kind of dissappointed with my runs thought, I figured I would be a lot lower. Both runs were 13.9. My first I had a 60' of 2.194 @102.48 and my second was 60' 2.218 @102.65. Where do you think I will be with the lid and TB? My reaction time wasn't horrible, but could use some work. My first R/T was .447 and my second was .405.

well, you should hit the gas on the last yellow light to take care of the reaction time. And yeah those 60 foot times could use some work...

the stall is a must before getting a cam. And a good cam kit will come with new springs and retainers. While you're at it, you might as well replace the pushrods as well! Get something a little better than the stockers, cause they are known for bending...

Go with a package, I went with a TTP V.3 with all the good stuf (springs, pushrods ect...) and a LS6 oil pump, double roller timming chain. Should be putting down around 400rwhp (we'll know when the stall goes in).
