Mod time, what should I do first?
Hey everyone. I saved a few bucks (taxes and all) and have some cash to spend on my 99 Z28. What should I do first? What items should I purchase? What works best? I am an LS1 Newb, and just bought the car bone stock, and dont want to make any mistakes and waste money. Thanks.

Yeah, T-Tops, and 6 Speed. I would like to know what brand-names I should go by. I have about a grand to spend off the bat, dont want to waste it. I allready know that Flowmaster is a no-no, things like that.

You have a few options but basics would be...
Free Mods
4.10 gears 200 + install
Air lid (any brand will do) 100 or less
Long Tube headers and ORY or True Duals Anywhere from 300 and up for the LT's and 125 and up for the y pipe, may have to have installed depends on your skills
Or theres always Nitrous, a decent kit with all the saftey provisions will be under a grand
and a new set of Drag Radials will be needed with almost any mod if you actually want to hook.

my two cents, pacesetter or hooker LT headers, ORY pipe, and a catback and lid ( ebay for the lid, and maybe have the exhaust shop around you custom fab an ORY pipe i did and had headers installed + ory for 200 cash) . good starting mods, and since you have a 99, after all that if you got some cash left over, might look at getting an ls6 intake or a dyno tune would be good also or 4.10's......the last three are up to you

Do you have an automatic or 6 speed?
And probably the best FREE mod will be to look at the stickys in the forums. Highlighted in yellow.

Drag Radials were one of the first mods I did to my car, I don't even consider my nittos as a major mod. I recomended them to anyone wanting to actually hook the car up and not spin all the way through first. Blowing the rear has been hit and miss with most street cars and most automatic cars get away with it longer. If your worried about the rear blowing dont bother racing the car, its only a matter of time before the rear pops. In the meantime save away for that new 9" rear and have fun with what you have l

Thanks a lot for all the info everyone. I like the way the "LoudMouth" sounds, might go with that. SLP has some package thing with their exhaust and intake for like 700 bucks, worth it?

I purchased my 02 Z28 about four months ago, and it was also bone stock. Here's what I've done, in the order it was performed:
- Pioneer speakers all around
- TSP Rumbler catback ($225 shipped, $25 for some Hooker tips, $80 installation)
- SLP lid and K&N filter ($90 for the lid, $50 for the K&N, took about 30 minutes to install)
- Xenon front ground effects (I had the RS side skirts and rear valance already, but didn't really like the RS front. $225 shipped, $340 for paint and installation).
- billet grille ($55 from eBay)
- Pro 5.0 shifter with WS6 Store short stick ($200 shipped, about an hour installation)
- 18x9.5 black Z06 Motorsport wheels with 275/35-18 BFG KDW2 all around. $1500 shipped. $120 for mounting and balancing.
