I live in NY i bought my car in NJ via Ebay... course the car was at a dealership, so they setup everything so i could drive it home. I had like 30 day temp plates and had my insurance start on it the day i picked it up.

make sure you get the title and a bill of sale. Do you plan on fixing it up? If so, if your buying it from an person, rather than a dealership, tell him to put a lower price on the bill of sale. The reason for this is because you don't have to pay as much taxes. Sounds like cheating, but more money in your pocket means more mods. If your going to use it for parts I don't think you have to ****, other than get it home.

Yeah, I just purchased a '99 SS in Texas and I live in Georgia. I'm not picking it up, however. I have a friend that is going to drive it out here for me this Friday. All I have done is send them a check and a bill of sale through snail-mail. I am also about to call my insurance company so the car will be insured for the ride over here. It's really not as complicated as people make it to be, I guess.

I got my Z28 out of NH and live in MA. They gave me the title, bill of sale, etc the day I signed...they needed a day anyway for a final detail and fill-up, etc.......then I went down to MA, purchased the insurance policy, went to the registry second since you need to prove you got insurance before they'll register it, then I had plates to go pick it up with.

I bought my T/A in Oklahoma (I live in Kansas), got the title, and bill of sale, took all the papers (including proof of insurance) to the county treasurer, and gave them a large check for the sales tax and fees, and walked out (I used the plate from my previous car)
In some states you can get a temp tag good for anywhere from 3 days to 30 days to let you drive the car from the state you bought it to the state you live in (since you're trailering it you don't need to bother with that, just get a title and bill of sale)

Not sure about used vehicles but i had to have emissions done within 10 days after i registered my new gto. Got it in NJ and live in PA! If it's a dealer, they can usually do all your taxes, registration, plates, etc. and include it in the cost. Otherwise, you might be paying PENNDOT a nice chunk 'o change out of your pocket.

I telling you this about the bill of sale because my dumbass didn't do it. I don't know what the tax rate is where your at, mine isn't to bad here only 3%. If I would have know better I would have put down a lower number on my bill of sale. I ended up paying my state a little under a grand to get my car registered.

i bought both of my trans ams in texas. i registered one in utah, when i lived there and the other one in california. all you do is go pick it up, drive it back, witha bill of sale and title of course, and then register it in your state with state taxes and a smog check. really easy in my opinion.

I bought my car from Md. and I live in Pa got it off of ebay. The guy I bought it from just signed the title and I had a bill of sale notarized just for safety. I just took it to the auto tag place and gave them my info and they gave me a pink slip and away I went.

If all you're getting is a salvage title I'd just get a Noterized signature on the salvage certificate. My 02 was purchased as a "salvaged" (flood) title and it took me 6 months to get a rebranded title here in PA that I could use to register the car. I also had someone who knows the PA laws and does this all the time do mine and it still took 6 months. PA is a PITA for that stuff.
If the title is clean I think you would still just get a Noterzed signature then take that to any auto tag place in PA and pay the tax and get the title transferred and the car registered. Good luck!
