Default Is there any way to tell if my rear end is original??

Just as the question states, is there any way to know for sure? any numbers to match up or anything?

I've recently found out that my speedometer is off, figured out by how much and figured that the car should have 3.23 gears, however the option code on the door is GU2 which is for 2.73 gears

now it doesnt make sense to me that someone would do a gear swap from 2.73 to 3.23s because it is so small of a difference so maybe the entire rear end was replaced, if that was the case is there any way to at least tell what year the rear end was from ?

I am finding more and more things out about this car that make me think its been in an accident, I wish I could find the previous owners and ask them what the hell had happened to it, then proceed to kick them in the face!!! /rant

I'm in the same boat as you luna, except I know mine was in at least a few fender-benders.

See if there is a code on the passenger side axle tube, (the older cars had it) IIRC that's a date code, if the date corresponds to the build date of your car, then it's probably the original, if it doesn't then its been replaced

Default

and also the carriers are differerent from a 2.73 and a 3.23, so its more than a simple gear swap
