Default Bolt ons and engine life

I was wondering what bolt ons would most likely decrease the overall life of the engine. Cams in particular...How hard would a T-Rex be on your engine and how much shorter would the overall life be because of it?

I was just wondering because I've started modding my car and i have to keep it for at least 6 years and i want to make sure it stays dependable.

Depends on how high you rev it and beat on it.

maybe 3 or 4 races a weekend (i dont have much competition here )
I only rev to about 2k driving around town.

I guess my real question is that if I got a full exhaust, heads, and a T-Rex how tough would that be on my engine and how long should I expect it to still be dependable?

Well it seems that with a better intake and exhaust shouldent that make the engine last longer since it can breathe better?

What are some of the big parts and how much would it cost to replace/ upgrade them?

Not really cause a restictive exhaust and intake will just bring the hp down a lot. You are taking a risk basically with anything you add to your car, if its done right and is tuned good there is less likley of running into problems. There is no bullet proof way of adding a cam that big along with heads. Its going to shorten the life of the engine - how much I dont know but with the proper care and maintance the engine should last a long time.

I don't consider a cam a "bolt-on"....maybe more of a "bolt-IN" lol..

But yeah, there are plenty cars out there with 150K+ on em, with cams...It all depends on how hard you beat on it, how far you rev it, and how well you take care of it (maintenance)...Also, a larger cam will be harder on the springs, so that may be something you wanna consider....But theres always a fix

My stock internals motor went 40K+ miles without a single issue being turned to 6600rpms. IMO, it would have went 100+ if I wouldn't have switched to heads and cam.
