Default Good Investment to re-sell?

I can buy a 00 Z convertible. I had a professional appraiser inspect the car. It definitely has clamp marks from a frame machine. Also the right rear quarter has been repaired and repainted. No paintwork anywhere else on the car. The appraiser said it looked clean and straight. Ran an Autocheck (same as CarFax) and it is clean. No accidents, salvage, flood, etc... - clean. I also had a mechanic give it a quick look and no issues. The car is a vert, w/45K on the clock. Leather, 12 disc, A4 - Z. I can buy it for $8,415. Should I or not?

Thanks

If the autocheck said its clean, why was it on a frame machine and why was the quarter panel repaired and repainted?

I'd say no, fbodies are selling pretty cheap...you could just wait for another one that really is clean.

Autocheck can be clean, but apparently, iof these people are not blind, they'll will know it's been in a wreck. Not worth the time or the hassle, for a car that's only worth $12k or so in great shape.

I wouldn't put a whole lot of trust or faith in the Autocheck or any of those services. Yeah they are great if they got the work done on insurance. However...I basically totaled a truck when I was 16 and had my uncle's friend, who owns a body shop and salvage yard, do the repair for me for cash. Everything says it had a clean title with no accidents...but it had a new front clip on it. Just my .02 guys...

Even without the damage, these cars are definately a depreciating asset.

Aggreed B.W. I wouldn't buy one as an investment no matter how nice or rare it is. If GM comes out with a new Camaro, the value would only go down I would assume. The risk doesn't outweigh any benefits by my thinking
