Default Hold my ground???...or give in?

Almost two months into my search for the "perfect" ls1 trans am and no luck yet. I really want a 98-02 ls1 t/a m6 with under or around 70k miles for $10k. It is almost impossible!!! Most t/a's are either way overpriced or have 120k miles plus. Ive run into a few auto trans ams in OK shape and even a couple z28's. Should I hang in there and wait for it to come to me? or should i just settle for any ls1 and deal with it?

Hold out man, you'll be glad you did trust me. I waited for a while and finally found a steal, it's worth it to get exactly what you want, if you don't you'll kick yourself in the ***. Good luck

Wait for what you really want. I made the mistake of giving in back in 03. I wanted a 01-02 black on black ws6 m6 t-top car. After months of searching with no luck, I settled for a 01 pewter a4. While I loved this car, and actually modded it to the point where it ran low 11s, the passion for a 6 speed finally overcome me and I got rid of that car and started over with a bone stock 02 that's in my sig......couldn't be happier. While this car isn't as fast YET as the last one, I have no regrets. Wait for what you truly want, it's worth it and it will save you money in the long run if you do like I did and buy twice.

Nice M6's are hard to find. You might have to travel out of your area to find one. I ended up giving in and getting an A4. I can't say I regret it - I'm having a lot of fun with my little converter in it and going to the track. But now and then I check around on the net for a nice M6 and think about selling it.

I would hold out... if you get something that isn't exactly what you want you'll prob regret it later... But you might have to start looking farther away and be willing to travel a little to find the right car... Good luck.

Took me 2 years to find mine... the only thing I didn't get was the color I wanted. I wanted NBM, Pewter or Black... ended up with Mystic Teal. The color has grown on me though.

Stick with your goal, you will find the car you want.

Definetly wait, man! I have learned from personal experience. About three months ago i bought my 96 SS, A4, with about 80,000miles on the clock. It was mint though. I wanted a six speed, but the look of the bright red SS staring at me, took me in. I ended up paying an amount of money i could have bought an LS1 with. Although, i love my car to death, i regret it, most times. I'm thinking about selling her...........Good luck!

Stick with your goal, you will fine that you not only make choices with your mind but with your heart, with that said if you settle for something that you do not want, then in a way you’re disappointing yourself.

Although I do think you may have to expand your search area, and bring up your cash a little, I do think you will find what you want, and it will be an even sweeter deal, because you waited!

I bought my car without even seeing it in person. I had to make a quick decesion, but the price was right, and the look was what I wanted, and it had all the options ( minus the hurst, but I am looking to buy a factory unit currently )..

I got a T/A ( Camaros are a dime a dozen in this area )
I got the colour I wanted ( Metallic Blue )
I got the M6 I wanted
I got the leather I wanted
I got the mileage I wanted ( under 40k miles )
I got the monsoon that I wanted
I got the blues mirrors I wanted
I got the price I wanted ( for the miles, it was a steal )

BUT I gambled. I knew it was a dealer auctioned car, one owner off lease, and that it was maintained, and car-fax was clean. I made a 1k payment to hold it for me over the phone, and drove 3 hours to get her. I haven't looked back since. The car was mint, and it sure feels good to have the car I wanted. I have begun my modding now, even though I origionally thought it was plenty fast.

The whole point, is wait for what you truly want... you won't regret it

Two months is nothing. Figure out what you want and are willing to pay. Be reasonable. Reconcile the two, and then be patient.

I agree with everyone, hold out for the M6. I wanted an M6 LS1 Camaro hardtop BAD, but I settled for a A4 t-top car(got the car home put on the sunshades and havnt even botherd to take off the tops). Even on my way to get the car I knew I would regret not waiting for a hardtop M6. Now it seems like every F-Body I see is an M6. One time this guy came up to me after I got out of the store, said he bought he bought his son a 97 Camaro but it was 6 speed. While I like my car and still plan on modding, I don't think I'll truley be satisfied until I can afford to get a M6. Oh well maybe by the time the I get out of college the 5th gen will be out and I'll a decent job and one(hopefully). Anyway sorry for the rant guys just been wanting to get that off my chest for a while. So long story short just wait becouse it WILL be worth it.

you ain't gonna get a T/A m6, w/low miles with only 10K. expect to pay around 15K. get the car you want, but be prepared to pay more than 10K

i know its gonna be hard to find a t/a for that price. maybe i should think about getting a low mile ls1 z28, those seem to be a lot cheaper in comparison with the t/a. im pretty damn sure that this wont be my last ls1 either way!

edit: its not that i cant afford to get a nice t/a, its just that i really dont want to put out that extra 5 or so thousand. im 18 and am a full time college student/assistant store manager at a grocery store so i make pretty decent money for my age. i dont want the stress of a $10 or $15k dollar car loan on top of my head, at least while im in school!

well then save another 5k or 6k and go buy the car you want. I say hold out, but you won't get the car you want for under 10K.
