I remember that there was a single exit exhaust on Trans Ams in '98, but I didn't know there was one on the Camaro SS

So do all the 98 F-bodies have a single exhaust system?? My 98 T/A WS6 exhaust goes header back as dual, into one muffler, and then exits out two pipes at the rear.

nah it was just an option on some slp cars I believe. I saw a 98-02 ss camaro vert in Maine a few years ago that had the single exit exhaust. I was confused and asked the guy and he said it was an slp option, although i dont know why anyone would go with it.

It's different and sounds badass. I beleive it is the 2OTL you are talking about? I could be wrong, but if this is it, it really does sound good.

I am not positive but I dunno if it is the same muffler thats on the slp 2OTL. The one I saw had only 1 tip, not two. The 2OTL sounds real good, I just love the looks of a split exhaust out the rear. JMO though.

Driver's side. 98 SS & WS6 had the single exit exaust. It wasn't an option, you bought either one, and it came with the one exit. I've read that it was to pass sound level drive by test with the high flowing muffler, cause the exit on the drivers side was away from the microphone, so it would register lower.

Don't know if thats true, but I do know I did not like the single exit that was still on my 98 when I bought it. Magnaflow went on even before the lid. Single exaust did have a bit of stealth value... people kept asking if I had a 6 cylinder. Yeah, that hood, spoiler and SS badges are just for show.

cool thanks man now the dumb question: has anyone been sucessful in having the exhaust tip on the pass side. the muffler would have to be 1 in 1 out on the inlet side. i heard that someone makes one like that for side exit exhaust but i dont see how that would work thanks to anyone who can help

'98SS had the single out the driver side. (put it on my '99Z) Works and sounds really good with the 3" in and out muffler from Summit (made by dynomax) for $35ish. Cheap upgrade.

The 98' SS and WS6 came standard with the single exit exhaust though SLP had options that included the dual tip system. All other V8 cars had a dual tip system- one on the left, one on the right. Most people HATED the single tip exhaust and ripped it off the car as soon as they could get something else (like I did).

I now have the original single-tip system on order from GM Parts Direct. Part number is: 10436321 MUFFLER. Dealer price is $644.99 retail! GMPD's price is $367.13 plus $88.11 for S&H to me. This includes the polished tip and intermediate pipe that connects directly to the Y-pipe. In another 10-15 years I'll put it on the car and see how many people remember the year of the single tip

I believe mufflex makes one, and it goes up to 4 inches. Slp does the 2 out the left too.

Here's my "single-exit" exhaust system on my '99 SS :

For those that didn't catch it, my car was involved in a hit-and-run accident and that is the outcome. Has been sitting like that in my garage for over a month now because insurance is being an ***.
