The fastest cars would be the base Z28's and Formula's. As stated all over this site, an LS1 is an LS1, they all carried the same motor. The difference with the above mentioned cars is weight. A Formula is something like 200lbs lighter than a WS6. That more than overcomes the 1/2hp (if even that) difference the WS6's intake setup makes, and even the 5hp (if you buy that idea) difference in the 01-02 cars.

Sometimes......not trying to start a war here, but I've seen quite a few stock F-bods running over stock Vettes. Not sure if it's harder to drag a Vette with the IRS, or M6 vs A4, but I've seen it enough times to convince me to think twice about putting my money on the Vette. Granted, stock for stock, a Vette SHOULD win every time. But hey, weirder things have happened. And for the record, I'd take a Vette any day if I could get one!

I get the impression your original question was really about F-bodies not Vettes...

I've really wondered about this myself. People say "an LS1 is an LS1" but in reality I think we all know that an 02 SLP 345 optioned SS M6 hardtop Camaro will likely run quicker stock than a 98 Z28 convertible A4 with 2.73's, for example... the car that GM High Performance drove to a 12.96 stone stock was such a car.

On the other hand, Tony (NineBall) said his hugger orange SS M6 made it to high 12's stone stock too, and it was a 99 without the LS6 intake or the 345 package, so... go figure.

There's a member here who drove his bone stock C5 into the 12.7x's.

I'll try to dig up the thread.

I own a 02 z06 and a modify 97 z28 ,my zo6 is stock and it will bust my z28 *** , i no that the z28 will out run the z06 on nos but let me install a 100 shot on the z06 and lets see what happens, the z28 is about 250lbs heavyer than the z06,and my z28 runs 12.3s on motor and 11.3 on a small shot of gas..Just my 2cents.....

Guys i want to explane a very important thing. it's the weight and the driver take a good part especially on 1/4 between the f-bodies Formula is the lighter.

Always the F-bodies 01/02 killing the corvettes at 1/4 and i have seen a discussion here in LS1tech and they was talking about why the f-bodies killing the corvettes also the ZO6's on the 1/4 and both are stock!!

My 1998 Formula went 11.89@119.21 Stock weight and stock internal it is also M6.

Your Z06 doesn't have an LS1 in it either. LS6 > LS1

What does any of that have to do with how fast a stock LS1 is?

I've never heard of a LS1 fbody that was faster than 12.8x's @ 110mph in stock trim.
