MAF and filter screen removal- good or not?

MAF and filter screen removal- good or not? I was wondering if anyone recommends removing the MAF screen from the stock unit in a 2002 WS6 m6. Also the air filter has a screen mesh covering it on top, when I open the air lid. Should I remove that screen? Also the air lid has those plastic ridges or channels in it, should I cut them out and smooth it? I was just curious on whether or not it would be worth it to do these free mods, if they actually make a slight performance gain, and if they are "safe" for the car.

this really isn't advanced tech but
if your talking about !MAF screen then you will get mixed reveiews some people say yes others say no. my car is running fine w/out it and it changed the sound of the car alot when i did it. i like it did it help prolly not.

what you need to buy is what we call a lid. they all seem to be about 100 bucks do some research on which one you want and buy form a sponser =) (but really they all seem to be the same x/cept for MTI clear lids.
