Default stacked bearings???

just bought a 98 ls1 complete. previous owner {whom i know} said he believes he starved it of oil and stacked the bearings. has anyone ever done this? what do ya'll think my chance of replacing the crank kit and everything else being all right??? thanks, Steve

also,can i do this from the bottom or do i need to check the rods also?

Never heard of 'stacking the bearings" but if it's been oil starved, you're likely looking at both the rod and crank bearings being toast, you can probably reuse the actual con rods, but you're probably looking at a crank and rod and main bearings.
FWiW you may be able to get a new short block for cheaper (depending on if you're doing the labor or not)
might want to check that out before going to all the trouble of taking the engine out (because it's going to have to come out to replace the rod brgs, the crank, and the main brgs)

ya i agree with 2k, ive never heard of stacking them either just fryin them cus their aint no oil

If you spin the bearing they will actually stack on top of each other.
The crank and whatever rods spun will need work. You will need crank bearings rods( Spun ones) and luck.
