Default Deciding whether or not to buy this WS6

So I found a 2000 T/A WS6 with 26,000 Miles on it. I'm going to take a look at it this coming weekend. The car is bone stock and is a M6. I've seen pics of it and it looks like its in great condition. Is $17,000 a good price?

I'd say $17K is too much for any 2000 f body.

Is this WS6 the black one with 26k miles on carmax for 16,9 a few days ago? If so the pictures look pretty good.

17 sounds high to me too. I know it's a WS6 but it's still 6 or 7 years old

Yeah you guys are right. I think I'll call the guy in a few days and see what he thinks about $15,500 in cash If I got him down to $16K in cash should I do it then?

Don't call. Go look at the car in person and then say "Yea, I like the car a lot but I can only go 15k" If he says no then say "Well, I can go 15,5 a the most and have a bank check or cash for you in 2-3 hours" if he says no walk away and say "thanks if you change your mind give me a call". I would not do it over the phone. Somehow it always seems to work better when the buyer knows your really serious and nothing says serious more than promising cash/bank check in short order. I can almost gaurantee if you do it over the phone he's gonna say no. Too many window shoppers with no intention of buying out there. You need to do it in person in my opinion.

Don't know where you all live but that is good price in WA for one. Hell it Blue books for 17,600. NADA puts the car at an average retail of 19,600. WS6/Trans Ams and SS/Z28s are Niche cars and hold their value well, You can find a deal but you have to keep looking or get it from a Private seller. If us is on a lot you and you get it for 15,000 make sure you get a lottery ticket that day.
17,000 That would be an average to good deal in Washington. 98 Trans Ams with 50000 miles on them are selling for about 14000 to 15000 out here.

Where are you getting a C5, LS1 Vette with 26,000 miles on it for 17,000 dollars. I would be first in line for it.

remember, you gotta pay TAX AND DEALER FEES too! that amounts to another thousand dollars on a 15k car! i'd tell him 15.5k all said and done, after tax and fees...and a full tank of gas. if not, you can find something else for that kind of money.

Right tax is not part of NADA or Blue book...Dealer fees are a part of that, that is the difference between private party and Retail when blue booking.

Well I talked to the owner of the car on Sunday night and he said that $17,000 was the lowest he could go.... but hopefully I can talk him down $500-$1000 and then I would definitely buy it on the spot! We will see this weekend I guess. The only thing is that I've been looking for an F-body for about four months now and I'm getting really impatient. I guess me being VERY picky on what car I want to buy really isn't helping the car search situation. If anyone knows anyone selling an 00-02 WS6 or SS with low miles on it that is somewhat close to St. Louis please let me know because I need a bad *** ride for the summer. Thanks everyone.

It also does not help that this is the hot season to sell a performance car like the fbody. In winter in the NE and midwest you get MUCH better deals IMO. Also, if the seller knows you really want it you're screwed.

I'd tell the owner that you are looking at 2 cars and can't decide on which one you really want. Say something like his car is nicer but the other car is much cheaper and you're on a tight budget. I'll bet if he really wants to sell he'll come down. If not move on there are plenty of good fbody deals out there and St. Louis is a pretty big place so there are probably tons. You waited this long what is a little longer?

If you pay the sellers price what will happen (Murphy's law) is you'll buy this one and feel you paid too much then in 2 weeks you'll find your "dream" deal and it will be too late. Just my opinion but if you REALLY wanted to pay that price it would be your already right?
