Question clean engine

is it ok to be spraying the motor down with thoses high pressure sprayers at the local car wash? is it bad for the electrical componants?

I'd advise caution. While it's possible to pressure wash an engine bay it does come at some risk. Electrical components and rubber components probably won't like it much.

Expect squeaky belts and maybe a few sensor issues. You could try a cleaning solution like road traffic film remover, but don't have the engine running because if it gets on any belts you need to wash it off.

There really isn't a lot of room in an Fbody engine bay and I probably wouldn't try and wash it unless I really had to.

i second OutlawTorn, i used simple green 2 days ago, and my engine looks brand new. just spray a very generous amount in the entire engine bay, and let it sit for like 15-20 minutes, take a garden hose and rinse it off. for added beauty take some tire wet, put it on a cloth of some sort, and wipe down all the rubber hoses, looks AMAZING!

also, i have not experienced any problems... look at the bottom of this page.. its my car domain, the last 2 pics are a before and after of my engine clean, HUUUGE difference. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2389462/1

Wow...you just sold some simple green there....huge difference...

Mine isn't nearly as bad as yours was though...But still...

Where can you get SG at?....autozone?...wal mart?

You can get simple green at any grocery store in the cleaning supplies isle so I'm sure Walmart has it
