Also, what are the downsides to buying below an '01? I know I won't have the LS6 intake manifold but I know I can pick one up for around 500, which seems to be more cost effective (after comparing many prices) than buying an '01 or '02.

There seems to be nothing wrong with the car other than it is a higher mileage car and that it seems to be almost as basic as a v8 formula could have been bought. Don't be afraid to put down the cash for that puppy. Good price as long as it runs and drives great, but don't expect it to be flawless.

That car seems to be a pretty good price. I say go for it man. An LS1 is an LS1...

id thoroughly check it...i got my 02 M6 Z28 for 10k because the ses light was on and the guy thought it was something major when it was just a cat gone bad. came with ext warranty for another year too...hehe had 10k less miles than what that bad boy has, so it prolly has some minor problems but nothing too outrageous...check it out and if all looks good, pimp it

Well, as to the differences between the 00 and the 01/02, read these:

That car looks like a really good deal. It seems slightly below average IMHO, but that could mean a number of things. It could be as simple as the owner needs the money sooner rather than later.
