Default Loudmouth 2 Questions

ok guys help me out here. Gonna e looking for a new cat-back for my T/A in a month or so and need yalls advice on this. The normal loudmouth was to loud and all, but how about the loudmouth 2? Can you actually hear the radio, and have a conversation without yelling at each other? Im not looking to set off car alarms and things of that nature. I dont mind a little noise at WOT but at cruising speeds I dont wanna hear some overpowering exhaust.

**and yes I have seen videos, but they can really only do so much if ya know what I mean...

Have you considered a Magnaflow system, its very mellow at idle with manifolds but has a nice deep throaty rumble to it driving around

My car has the best exhaust I've ever heard on an LS1, long tubes and what looks like Mac or Flowmaster, I'll have to get under it and find out for sure. My buddy Josh has a 99 Z28 with Loudmouth II, Way quieter than mine at idle and at WOT. It's modular (change mid-pipe between:1. straight pipe, 2. resonator. 3. an actual muffler, glass pack I think.) Anyway, the muffler was too quiet for him, the straight was too raspy, so the resonator was just right. If you go with L/M 2, you will have the choice of 3 different exhausts in one and can change the midpipe out between the three as you like. So if you get tired of the NASCAR-ish straight, put the muffler on. If you're tired of the docile tone of the muffler, put the resonator on kind of like a happy medium. If I were ever to replace my exhaust, it would be LoudMouth 2.

Oh by the way all he has is a lid and Loudmouth2. With the resonator mid-pipe it's not overly loud at all even when he floors it, it just added a little tone and not much volume from when it was stock.

The LM2 comes in modular form w/ the muffler (glasspack). The LM1 is the same thing except it has the modular resonator instead of the muffler. I've got the LM2 and it drones on the freeway behind an LT1.

EDIT: and for the straight pipe I think you'd have to have a piece of pipe cut/flared at one end by a shop, because I don't know of an option for it?

yea I got confused for a sec. I know the loudmouth used that shotgun resonator, but wasnt sure what the LM2 used. So, how exactly loud is the LM2 in your opinion?

It's loud enough for me and then some. It's basically a 15" glasspack in the middle of 3" pipe, so if you can find a pickup or something else that have a something similar combined with cats, that'll be an easy guide. It won't have the same tone necessarily, but loudness will be close.

One of my roommates has a Ram 1500, also with a 15" glasspack (only 2.5" instead of 3") and their about the same volume, so the noise level isn't strictly for the LM2 catback.

The radio is no problem. Conversations are ok, unless someone is really softspoken (crusin' ~80mph). Driving around town conversations can typically be held no problem.

I would say the exact same thing of my original loudmouth (with stock manifolds/cats). It's not THAT loud.
