Default from a 60 roll, hitting the rev limiter

So I was going around 60 mph and i think it was in the 3rd gear (a4 here). A 3000gt pulled next to me and we raced. I floored it and the tachometer went nuts. It went from around 2000rpms to.... well the arrow was hitting the 7000 mark and bouncing off of it. I did not expect that kind of power. Is this normal, because I floored it before while going around that speed on a highway before (maybe it was in a final gear then) and I didnt feel that much acceleration comparing to that. Thanks in advance

If you were in final gear you would be pushing 162 and not quite to the limiter yet. Seems your clutches are going out, check your fluid and see if its burnt or red, You may want to start saving for a new tranny though, thats what happened to mine
