Just puchased 2000 FRC
I just bought a 2000 Black corvette FRC(hardtop) 6 speed. This thing is in awesome condition and it has 53k on it. I paid 20K. This thing is 1000x better than my 02 stang GT I used to own. The only mods on it are some sort of cat back that is pretty quiet and it has a K&N drop in filter. the car is really fast compared to my mustang, the top end is amazing. My question is how much power can you add before you have to start building up rearend parts or worrying about the clutch. I almost hate modding/racing it because it is so nice but that is why i bought a more inexpensive car instead of a Z06 or a newer model. I was thinking of doing h/c/i/ full exhaust over the winter. I'm worried that the rest of the car wont be able to handle it and i will end up building up the rearend and new clutch or whatever else could go wrong with 500hp +. The other way I was thinking of going was just leaving it how it is. Possibly doing full bolt ons... Cam only. I was even considering Supercharging. But like I said, I dont really want to put more than 5K in this project. Any suggestions appreciated.

Congrats on the frc purchase.
The stock clutch is pretty weak and as soon as you put a sticky tire on the car the clutch isnt going to like it. I went with a Textralia clutch. Grabs real nice and drives close to stock.
If your planning on a strip car with many hard launches the output shafts may need to be replaced with hardened ones, but that should be about it for the power your planning. If its mostly be a street car leave the rear alone.

Man, the prices on the C5's sure have gone down a lot since I was looking at getting one... And that was only at the beginning of this year, too. Meh, I'm happy with my SS
I would still rather have a 'Vette though...

Congrats!
You will love that FRC. I had a Pewter 2000 FRC that I ordered just the way I wanted it. Traded it for my 03 Silver ZO6 that I'm currently selling.
This time I'm traded down for a nice black 99 T/A. Don't get me wrong, I love me them f-bodies. I've had 2 4th gens, 3 third gens, and 3 second gens.
They just don't compare to the C5's though.
