2000 WS-6 battery questions, newbie
hello everyone. i am relativly new to this forum. i need some help here. my 2000 t/a is giving me some problems. seems my battery isn't holding a charge anymore. it is the original battery. car is seldom driven. only 22k. no problems until last week. had to jump it with a charger to get it going. drove it all afternoon, and the next day as well. no problems. well after sitting for a week, had to jump the battery again. gauge shows its charging, but battery dosnt seem to hold a charge. heres my questions. if it is the battery, i have heard that you just cant take the old battery out and replace it without experiencing some problems. second if i do purchase a new battery, where can i get an identical replacement? any and all input will be greatly appreciated. thank you........

You can go to any autoparts store and get a battery (I actually got mine from walmart).
You just need to make sure you get the right specs on the battery for the car. Someone at the store should be able to help you with that.

If it is a original identical replacement that you want then go to the dealer. I too have a original in the hawk but when it goes, I'm going with the dry cell batteries. Even though I have no complaints about this one. You should be able to get some type of name off your battery incase the dealer doesn't have them, and do a search on the computer to see who sells that brand. As far as having problems when you replace the battery, I can only think of having to reset your radio, with the code.Any other problems you got me.....Mike

I would just get a new AC Delco battery from the dealer.
You may need to do the idle relearn proceedure after the battery replacement, should you experiance any idling issues. It's a simple proceedure:
For a 2000 model year, auto trans car (just omit the "in gear" parts if you have a 6-speed)
Start the car, let the coolant temp get above 176*
Set parking brake and let it idle in gear for 5 mins
Then shift to park, let it idle for 5 mins
Turn off motor for 15 seconds, restart and all should be well.
