Default Everytime I sell a car to a teenager they wreck it...pics

OK...I sold my 2001 Mustang Gt Saleen clone to a 19 year old kid...Nice guy real excited to buy it...The car had low miles and every possible bolt on...ANyways 3 weeks later I get a call from him telling me he did a burnout leaving a store and did a 180 in on coming traffic and got nailed...Car was totaled..luckly he was ok......

Then I sold my totally custom 99 ss to a young 18 year old and 2 weeks later I get a call from him telling me he was doing a burnout lost control, and jumped a curb and wrecked the front plus the suspension...Man this one really upset me..

Then I sold my 1992 Caddy to a 17 year old ...and 3 weeks later a get a letter in the mal telling me to go pick my car up from a storage unit....He never titled the car....But i was informed the car had some body damage..

I guess my point is..If your a young man..Don't buy a car from me....because you will be cursed

Here's some pics of the cars...all very nice at the time of sale...

Sold my 95 TA and it promptly ended up in a federal impound due to the new owner's penchant for illegal substances and their distribution

Is it any wonder why insurance on fast cars is so high for kids?
They may think they are the best drivers in the world but confidence is no match for experience.

^^^ I sell insurance and the statistics are nothing short of morbid. The chance of a 16-21 year old totalling a sports car in some areas is as high as 50%. The stats for crotch rockets are even worse, under 21 first time riders are gonna pay for the price of the bike in insurance premiums within a year and a half

then why sell the young kid the car? i know you want to sell it, but don't you really have a moral responsibility? i mean, would you let your kid buy those cars? probably as their first real car... i.e. not daddy's station wagon..

Where are their own parents moral responisbility to not buy their kids or allow their kids to buy a fast car? You cant honestly say that if you were selling your car and a kid came up with a bank check for the full amount youd turn and say "sorry kid, your too young". I dont know many people who would do that.

Why let ANYONE drive? Why eat when you could choke? Why have a checking or credit account...? Come on. You need to know your own limits and its not HIS place to tell the kid his limits.

I sometimes see ads around here that include "VERY FAST-NOT A KID'S CAR!!!" in the description.
When I was 16 I asked my insurance agent how much the premiums would be on a Z28, he just said "We wouldn't insure you", and proceeded to tell me what happened to kids and insurance companies when the Z28's came out in '67.

I drove a 1996 LT1 formula when i was 16, no wrecks no tickets (one close call on a rainy road), now driving a 1998 Z28, no wrecks no tickets, and im looking for an 03 cobra...
i am a firm believer in working for what you have, ive worked my *** off for all my cars, ive always had a full time job when most of my friends and kids i hung out with sat at home all day, then when they got their license rich mommy and daddy bought them what they wanted. Most were either totalled or taken away due to tickets.
You just need to be responsible and think for a second "is this a good idea?"

I've had my Z28 since I was 17. My first car was a small block firebird. Never wrecked either car, much less ever been in an accident. I guess some kids are just non-driving s.o.b.'s. Oh, by the way, I'm 21 now.

I'm only 19 and I like to think that my first car is the reason I've become a responsible driver. It was a 93 Caprice LTZ with a 5.7 TBI and posi...just powerful enough to learn how to handle and respect a RWD car. And with the winters we have in IN i think I was def. ready for my formy when I got it this summer.

Don't get me wrong, I love burnouts and sliding around corners in the rain as much as the next guy...I just believe I know when not to fool around.

because when MOST kids get a fast car, they do stupid **** at the wrong times. and from reading this post, that's what has happened. i'm not going as overboard about it as you are, i just know that when my kids are ready for their license, they can start out on the cavalier.

Exactly, I would do the same, I was just commenting on the fact that you were saying that the original poster shoyuld have some sort of "moral obligation" not to sell it to a teen. The thing is that it isnt his business and it should be their own parents whom shoot the idea of having a fast car at that age down if they arent responsible enough to have one. if a kid has the money or a parent is willing to buy a fast car for them, it doesnt matter if you say no to them as the next person or a dealership will say yes.
