Free mods are on Installuniversity.com. Some include ported throttle body and free ram air.

A free mod is things that you can do to your car for free to add more horsepower.
1)Like taking the screen out of the Mass airflow sensor
2)Cuting the bottom out of the airbox
3)Cuting off the egr tube that blocks the Ls1 intake (98-00 F-body)
4)Home Port the throttle body
5)Throttle body coolant bypass
there mite be some more but these are done to my car.Maybe added 10HP are so but cost me no money.Hope this helps

taking your screen out of your maf is stupid, and should not be done. It is NOT going to add more HP and is more dangerous than anything. that's the only one i highly suggest you don't do.

Yea,.........I learned that lesson the hard way. Touch one of the 3 tiny *** sensors and your car won't even hold idle. Keep the screen on. I had to buy a second one for a few hundred bucks imediatly after my moment of stupidity.

Personally, Im really only fond to the ported TB and maybe one or two others. They may be free, but some things, such as the MAF for example, arent meant to be descreened or messed with. I still like installuniversity.com and I beleive they are very resourceful, so dont get me wrong. To the original poster: If you look through some of the stickys you will find a "Newbs mistakes" page, take an look through those and you can get an idea on which free mods, as well as other mods, are worth your time.

"Free Mods" are modifications which are free. Kinda self explanatory really

Anyhow most are completley pointless and some may cause negative affects. Ported TB is really the only worthwhile one. A couple more are ok.

RESEARCH them before doing them. Find out what they change and how they are supposed to help. And don't believe the obvious that is claimed. Really go and find out what the mod is trying to do. Most are done under totaly false pretenses, based on inaccurate conclusions and bad physics. Hence they are totally pointless.

descreening the MAF is like taking the air filter out of the box no filter equals more air but no filter means **** in your intake same with the MAF

You could try it and see what happens, but don't damage it or you're getting yourself another MAF.
so far he seems to be true this ^ is the usual when you do a search on it

besides nitrous applications, what is the real benefit of descreening? is the risk really worth the reward? i know some z06 (i dont know what years) came without screens but in our applications if your not careful you can mess up some **** and it seems like going the extra mile for something not that great. just my .02

i really don't get what you're trying to prove unit? I had insight on my views on descreening the MAF and gave my input like it or not. I think it's stupid as hell, and fellow mod orangeapeel does also, pulled this from another thread

You will get more power due to the fact that you are leaning out your motor. Just remember too lean is *boomtastic*.
