Nothing. They are pretty much the same motor AFAIK and make pretty much the same power. GM underrated the F-Body in order to sell more Corvettes.

I seen two 04 gtos at the local dyno one day . Both were automatics with cais and a catback . Funny thing is they were both in the 28X rwhp range on a dynojet .

i agree my friend dynoed his 04gto at 288rwhp. not real impressive and those things weigh a whole more then a f-body.

Same engine. Different GM ratings as already stated. The IRS does suck up a little of the power.

im pretty sure 04 GTOs got a different cam for better low end plus they have a better exh. autos have a higher stall speed than fbodies and m6s have m12 gearing unlike fbodies.

i saw an 04 a4 GTO Dyno low 290s stock and an m6 dyno low 300s. not bad at all imo. theyre not slow. if youre considering one take a test drive theyre great cars.

I just bought a 2004 gto engine, 290 hp on the dyno is a bit disapointing, 60 hp loss thru the drivetraing is to much. ill dyno mine when i get it in, maybe it helps to remove the cats. My engine is going into an old mercedes w124.

That's 290 at the rear wheels. The 350hp rating is at the flywheel. Seems about right to me.
