Default What are the best street tires?

I have a set of Kumhos and I can't seem to catch traction from a 2k auto launch. Does anyone know what street tires are better for traction?

M/T E.T. Streets are fuggin awesome. The only problem is they suck when it's wet, but I don't know of any other DOT tire that grips as well as these do dry.

Street tires, I'm on my 2nd set of Falken FK451. I love them they hook up awesome on the road, so so on the track, and they hardly hydroplane, at least not as bad as the stock GY F1s did! I got 30,000 miles on my first set and I'm hoping for the same on this set. I have a big cam, M6, an 4.10 gears, these tires have seen the track many of times too! Good luck in your search.

Obviously drag radials will get you the best dry traction, but I am also pretty impressed with my BFG KDW2s...they grip much better than my old yokohama 100s.

I have Continentals (ContiSportContact) and theyre amazing for cornering, but suck in straight line acceleration. I cant hook for ****. When I need some traction, I go to my stock F1s with like no tread and 17psi.

You don't say WHICh Kumhos...

the 711s suck ***.
the 712s were pretty darn nice
the MXs are supposed to be good.

As for those suggesting DR for street use... be warned, grasshopper, those guys buy tires every 3-5000 miles.

Most people seem to LOVE the BFG KDW2s, but they ARE expensive.

I have had the new fuzions on my 98 cobra and my 2k slp ss and i like the hell out of them. They do pretty good in the dry and not bad in wet. They are a pretty soft compound but stick around for a decent tread life. Their tread pattern isnt bad looking for those who care. Plus they are freakin cheap...very good buy for the money i.m.o.

I agree totally......I previously had the Bridgestone RE 950's & they cost a hell of a lot more( like $100 more a tire) than the Fuzion Zri's & don't perform near as well. Fuzion's are a budget high performance summer tire made by bridgestone and aren't meant for any kind of snow driving but are great in the rain and make your car stick like they are on rails.....Overall I'm very happy with the Zri's & for the $$$ they are the best bang for the buck IMO The best street tire might be the Bridgestone Pole Position series tires....I've had a set and loved the hell outta em however they cost a pretty penny (about $280 a tire)

i use the BFG drag radials and the only way i can get them to spin is to spray my 100 shot out of the hole but before 2nd they have gotten traction again. and these are 255/60/16

Falken Ziex Ze 512: a better bang for the buck, $90 each for a Y rated tire that has a 360 treadwear.

my bfgs are still looking really good and they stay on my car never taken them off once. So they prob have like 9 passes and like 1500 miles on them, but when i hit the nitrous like i said they do spin through low. but id say ive still got 3000 miles left on them maybe.

I just put MXs on my Z and am very happy with them, excellent off the line traction. The user reviews on them at tirerack.com were right on the money. I think I would have had to pay ~70 bucks a tire more to get a better tire, like GS D3s or KDs.

On the other hand, the 711s I used on an 89 Formula 350 were . Zero traction off the line with the stock L98. The rear end would try to come around on me if I gave it to much gas making a turn at a corner.

I've had Falkens (pretty good cheap tire imo) and Fusions (ok cheap tire imo) and now have Good Year Eagle GS D3s (285 40 YR17) right now which I think are a really good tire for the money (about $200) plus they are about the only street tire that comes in that size you don't have to be scared to ride on in the rain.
