Default How do I make sure a 99 camaro is a 99?

I have a 98 and screwed up, so, it looks like I need to get a 99+ so I can get the correct tuner equipment. I know I can tune my 98, but, I am not paying $500 to tune just one year car! So, now I have my eyes set on a twin, iin all respects (just happened that way) 99. How do I know or make sure this is not some inbred cross breed redneck 98 disguised as a 99? I need to make sure I have a legitamit 99 complete with tunable 99+ computer as thats the reasoning for a 99+ !?

Get the VIN and have it checked? The sticker on the door jam will tell you alot as well. Moving to the New Enthusiast section.

Default title

title, vin, door sticker.underhood sticker.just like any other car.if that dont saticfy you pull the rerar end cover and see if it has the torsen.the 99s have rear speed sensors for the abs, were the 98 uses the reluctor mounted to the ring gear for thee abs.as far as i know these are the only differences.

check the digit in the vin for the year. Also 99 would have center bolt valve covers

Yeah the quickest way to check is to look for the centorbolt valve covers...if it has them it's a '99+....if it has perimeter bolt valve covers, it's def. a '98.

do a search for vin decoding and you will find a site that will let you type in your vin and it will tell you alot of stuff about your car.

Check the VIN.

The 10th digit in the VIN is the model year. For GM, an "X" = 1999. A "W" = 1998.

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 07:19 AM.
