Default Best Book to learn more about our cars/ modding cars in general

Hey, If I wanted a gret book to read that would give a great general breakdown on automobiles, performance parts and modding engines....what are some of your favorite books you've read? Sort of the "Building a Peformance Car for Dummies"
Ls1 Tech is a great resource, and I know you can't replace hands on experience, but what is a good start to a better understanding of our cars and learning more about how it all goes together to produce that ever so addicting horsepower we all crave?

your best bet would be to go and get your hands dirty, not reading books IMO

Another good book that will give you a good general understanding of modding and engines would be the Hot Rod Magazine: Horsepower Handbook. This helped me out quite a bit.

Chiltons are nice.

I reccommend John Lingenfelter(SP?)'s book. I forget the name and can't find it, at the moment, but it gives great advice on how to set up a car. How to make power, the whys of it, so on so fourth.

Of course, those books are purely supplemental to actually doing the work.
