Default turning off the auto headlights?

Is there a way I can not have my headlights come on automatically on my 99 Z28? And can I switch it back?

That's what I did. Works great. I hate DRLs and auto headlights. Can't stand 'em.

The easiest way to disable the auto-lights is to short together the two wires going to the sensor. You can use a "scotch-block" to short them together.

Agreed. That's one of the first things I did. The clears look much better during the day this way.

There is no need to do all this. All you need to do is go to Radio Shack and by a 5 resistor. A pack of 5 cost like .69. Pop the dash in the center vent you will see a red light blinking. Pull that sensor and stick the resistor in and your done. Takes less than 3 minutes and its the 1st mod that was ever done on both of my Camaros

As far as I know, that only kills the auto headlights, which is fine if that's all you want to do. But should you want to kill the DRLs too, you'll need to do the full process in the link above.

No need for a resistor to disable the auto-headlights. Just short (splice) together the two wires going to the light sensor. You can use a scotch block or another crimp to do it the quickest and easiset. Also, with a scotch block or other crimp connector, its reversable.

Take out the front of the dash/radio and take out the light sensor under the dash.

Removing the sensor without splicing the wires will make the system think its always nightime, which is the opposite of what you want.

On my Camaro I just took out the sensor. It makes ths system think its always daytime thus the lights don't come on unless you turn them on manually.

It should make it think its always nighttime.
Maybe there's a failsafe when the sensor is missing.

Use this style connector: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showt...=auto+headlight

Lift up the dash pad, it's only held by clips so it's easy. Only lift it as much as you have to unless you feel lucky.

Find the two wires to the sensor, clamp on the splice block (or scotch block) to the two wires.

Replace the dash pad.

You're done. Less than one minute's work.

Two years, no problems. Reversible in 20 seconds.
