Default which cam for 00 Z28 A4

which cam would be the best for my 00 Z28 A4. It is my DD but i want a good hp gain and a rough idle. I am planning on getting a 3400 stall and 3.73 gears in the future. Which would be the best cam for this setup?

what are your goals? is it just a daily driver? a track car? for just a daily driver something like a 224/224 is the most popular.

i say it all the time 224 cam puts out good numbers, that rough idle you want does affect drivability, but if you want it go with the ms3

matter of opinion really. The 111 will give you a rougher idle naturally. Im all about the sleeper so i dont want a huge lumpy cam, but hey whatever floats your boat

bayarea SS, also pointed out another good cam in the 228/228. i think that also seems like a good street cam. remember the bigger cam u go, the less drivable it is and the bigger the higher your rpm need to be to use that cam. for example the ms3, its a bad a$$ cam for sure, but u would have to rev yur car to like 4 or 5 grand to use the power, so for me that wouldnt be practical on a light to light type of racing or so.

you do know how many other mods you will have to do with the cam swap and even more for some cams $$$$ springs, retainers, rods, converter, etc...but if you do do the converter first, you may not want a cam after that

well you def. need atleast a LS6 intake or better(FAST intake) to benefit the cam. With your ride I would look into the 224/228 range or a step up maybe a 228/232 both with a 110+2 LSA if you wanted to not rev the engine as much have a +4 advance ground in. Drivability is all in the tune. Be sure to get a good TUNE. Ill try and help more if needed.

Be careful of going too big. A 224 224 112 lsa will be a great daily driver cam. Larger cams will gain you more hp, but lose some low end tq. Of course if you have a stall, you want to match the stall amount with where the cam will be starting to make tq. But even with a 224 cam you can pretty much run any stall and it will work good. Also keep in mind the bigger tha cam, the more it likes to rev. The stock auto doen't like too many revs, so getting a cam that is too big might be risky for the stock trans, in the longrun. Also note that a bigger cam requires you to be in the upper RPMS before it starts to "kick in", but again this isn't as much of a big deal if you have a loose stall to match it with.
