A lid, headers, ypipe and a converter will be the most effective mods right off the bat. If you need anything you can give us a call and we'll be glad to help!

I'm about in the same boat as you and I'm going with what some of the pro's suggested and that is yank PT4000 stall but thy said the vig is also a great stall maybe if your not going to do too much track racing then go 3200 but the pacesetter long tubes seem to be the best bang for the buck and go true duals and get it tuned! if your not scared and like the occasional street blast then get a dry nitrous kit and have a little fun with a 100 shot!

I'm not a fan of stalls, they just add sloppy looseness to an otherwise tight combination. They are good for track times though... but suck at engine revving nature and gas mileage.
You want to get intake and exhaust out of the way first. To better build a good foundation to work from. Get headers (stainless if you can afford them) and true dual kit (like the Bassani Kit). Along with a ls6 intake, ported tb, and lid, you'll have yourself an excellent solid intake/exhaust combination. Good for ~350 rwhp. Might come in a bit over 1500, but worth it.
For stricktly under 1500, get pacesetter headers and offroad ypipe ($500), Magnaflow catback ($400), ls6 intake ($300), ported TB ($150), and save the rest for gas. You should still be at ~340 rwhp.
