Default 02 pewter z28

well im in the process of purchasing an 02 z28 w/ 18k miles. yes, 18,000. well the dealer is asking 17,929. but i offered him 15k out the door.. 15k a good price for the car? the car is immaculate 1 owner car. even the window sticker is still there. only one problem is the tailshaft seal is gone and needs replacement. is that a hard replacement? and could that be more problems then just the tailshaft seal maybe the bushings? car runs great piston slap or anything.. still smells like a brand new car!

Are they fixing the seal? I would say tell them that your 15K offer is the highest you will go and that you will look elsewhere but to call you in the next few days if they change their mind. 15K though sounds like a pretty good deal.

Dealerships tend to try and fix all mechanical problems before they sell the car. They can do it for cheap since they have their own service area right there, and it just makes the car much more appealing to potential buyers for it to be problem free. Nobody wants to buy a car that needs work unless their getting a very good deal.

18K miles is awesome, practically a brand new car, but 15.9K still seems high. If it was an SS M6, that would be a more fair price. Considering its a Z28, I wouldn't pay any more than 15K. Try to bargain with the dealership and get them down, especially if they aren't going to fix the tail shaft seal before they sell the car.

yah most fbodies in the area go for 16k+ w/ over 30k miles so this one is a keeper imo and the tailshaft seal isnt a big deal since i can pick them up for 50 cents. also full optioned car - t-tops / full leather / monsoon / traction control.. the works and also to throw in the window motors are actually working at full potential lol

Sounds like a good deal to me but I would make them fix the seal first.

Default Good deal

Bought mine 1.5 years ago 27000 miles for $15,200 that was a steal! I would jump on the 15,900 for that car if it is as clean as you say. But I would also recommend getting them to fix the problem you say exists!

Replacing the tailshaft seal is fairly straightforward. I would still use it as leverage for a better price, however, 15.9 is not too shabby for a low mile, unabused f- body..

I think $16k out the door with the seal fixed is a great deal. I would jump on that!
