Default Need Help

Hello, I bought a 01 Trans Am a couple of days ago. I am having a little problem with it. It’s sputtering under throttle and i cant figure out why. I changed the plugs and put a new MAF on it which cleaned it up a little. The car has full exhaust headers back, stall, shift kit, and I think a mild cam. Going to try changing the O2 sensors next. What do you guys think it could be? Thanks in advance

Was it doing the same thing before you changed the plugs/MAF? SES on?

Mine did the same thing after I bought it, turned out to be the throttle position sensor.

Since the SES is on drop by some place like auto zone and have them read the code(s) for you, around here it's free.

Misfire could just be one of your new plugs/wires. The lean could be one bank, or both banks - the codes help nail it down. When you go back write down the codes, don't worry about the descriptions. In the interim double check all your plugs/wires and make sure you have a good seal on the MAF and no vacuum leaks. Did you put a stock MAF on the car?

black smoke is cause u are running rich due to exhaust system. u can have it tuned but, if u r planning to install cam I would wait for tune till cam installation. if u only get black smoke at wot I would worry about it. so as long as it's not thick black smoke.
