Default Mileage

So I'm still hunting for a 98+ T/A =p Been looking about for near a month, which I realize isn't that long of a time, but I've had 10+ car slip through my fingers.

My question is about the life of an LS1 car: What kind of mileage should I be comfortable purchasing on one of these cars? I was thinking 70k should be the absolute limit, but I really don't know about their longevity.

Any thoughts?

[Additionally] Should I be considering this car? What should I offer?

I bought mine with 128K for half of what most of the people here spent for their sub 80K cars and it's just as good of a car. Has 140K on it now and I'm doing a heads/cam package this winter. Mileage on these isn't that big of a deal if the car was well taken care of.

An LS1 car with 70,000 miles I would look to pay around 11k depending on where you live, could be more or less. I wouldn't pay that much for that WS6 in your link, the interior, to me, looks to be a little beat up. But thats my opinion, I am a nut about keeping it immaculate because then it looks like the owner took good care of it. I would offer them $12,500-13,000 and see what they say. It can't hurt to try. Good luck with the search.

I bought my WS6 for 12K with 72K on the odo, has 78K and I have replaced a LOT of **** but the motor and tranny are still good. They are pretty durable cars.

My Formula had 76K on it when I got it, and it's still in awesome shape... car has 82K on it now, and has since been down the strip about 300 times and it is solid as hell.

I agree, but the blue book has this car for $15,100. Keep in mind, that IS the retail and for some reason, it is showing only "Excellent", which this car is not. I mean, it's nice as hell, but like KBB says, less than 5% of all used cars fall into that. Still, like JerseyLS1TA says, offer 12,500 - 13,000 and see if he bites.

On a side note, I just bought an '02 Anniversary SS M6 with 27k miles for $16,900. Hold out, b/c there ARE deals to be had out there.

I have 95k on my car. It had 89k when I bought it. Mine is modded up real good. It already had a cam, headers, exhaust, built T56, wheels n tires, road racing suspesion, and 12 bolt axle.

It also came with a stock 10 bolt, and the stock wheels and tires.

Only things I have had to buy so far for the car is a different intake manifold/TB, head bolts, and lifters.
