Default Bassani Headers?

What do you guys think of Bassani Headers? Where would they rank among the best?

I was very happy with mine. Excellent quality; fit and finish was perfect. They were still on my WS6 when I sold it. Bassanis are a mid, so I would imagine alll else being equal that true LTs will make more power, but quality wise the bassanis are top notch. The primary tubes are made of thicker metal than many other headers, 14 gauge.

Concur. And with their ceramic coating... a very nice product.

For peroformance you want a long tube header, this is for scavenging not for flow.

Pacesetter, Edlebrock make nice coated budget LT's.

Edlebrock, Kooks and QTP make nice expensive stainless headers.

Yep, you're going to want to go with longtubes. Please do not spend $700 on mid-length headers.

Ok header....but don't spend 200 on them...much less 700.

Get a longtube. For 700 you can just about get a set of Kooks.

Depends on your goals. If you don't plan on much more than bolt-ons, you won't see much difference between the mids and the LTs. Obviously, with bigger engine mods the gap will likely grow.

But Bassani is an excellent product, and at the time I bought them there was not a single LT header on the market that fit as well or had better quality than Bassani (I was one of the first to own a set). There's a lot more competition in the header market now, so LT fitment might be improved.

That's not 100% true.

Mids work best on high revving applications. In fact a bolt on cammed such as TREX cam with ARP head bolts spinning to 6700-7000rpm would be an idea combo for mids. This is because mids scavenge better at high RPMS.

LT's have longer primaries which means they will scavenge from lower rpms and have better coverage over the entire LS1 rpms range than mids do. Consequently Lt's often only show small gains in PEAK, but there should be a substantial difference in under the curve performance.

Powerwise for a bolt on street car LT's make much more sense.

For a track car it's less clear cut, but most mids only have 2.5" collectors which on a V8 such as the LS1 is a restirction, you really need 3" collectors as at times you will end up with multiple exhaust pulses in the collector at the same time.

I would more concerned with changing my rod bolts for 6700-7000rpm operation rather than head bolts.
