Whats the difference
I just bought my T/A about 2 months ago. My registration says its a formula. Whats the diff between a T/A and a formula. I like to know becuase i'm about to repaint. If it is a formula I'd like to put the decals on.

Your registration is determined by the vin # and the Vin's don't distinguish between a Formula or Trans Am The Vin # just tells that it is a V8 Firebird so they all appear as Formula/Trans Am.
If your door emblem says Trans Am and you have a raised (uplevel) spoiler then you have a Trans Am. Formula's look the same a Firebirds but have T/A underpinnings and Drivetrain. And If your car is a Formula you will have a W66 RPO on your option's sticker located on the Drivers door.

All V8 Birds (98-02) start out life as a Formula. If the Trans Am package was ordered (Y82 : Upraised Spoiler, ground efx, different front bumper, t-tops), it was simply added onto the Firebird Formula base. So basically, every Trans Am owners registration will say Firebird Formula.
