Default New Water Pump?

hey all...just found out i need a water pump on my 02 ls1 with 91k miles. was wondering if i should put a timing chain on it too. since it will be all apart anyway. what kind of chain and anything else would be helpful. any ideas. thx

its not as easy as you think.. you gotta take the oil pump out to get to the chain.

I put a cam in my car with a 134K and it had great "slack" in it and didnt need to be changed IMO.

Just replace the pump and be done with it.

thanks. I am not gonna do it. do these ls1 engines have nylon gears?

+1 Replacing the oil pump is a lot of extra work for just preventative maintenance.

+2, replacing a water pump on our cars is an hour job. replacing a timing chain can be very time consuming.
