Default LS1, looking to make it bigger

im going to be buying a 2000 Z28 in the next few days. its a california car, 6 speed, and high milage (somewhere between 100-150K miles. i'll find the exact number tomorrow) but i can get it for a deal that is too good to pass up.

i have big plans for making a project out of this car and i want to know how big i can safely increase the displacement of the aluminum LS1. its my understanding that the cylinders and be resleeved to accomodate larger pistons, and then it can be stroked too. im looking to go to around 400CI or 6.5 liters with it (for sentimental reasons haha).
i want to keep the (an) aluminum block too.

i tried the search but its temporarily unavailable?!

help guys!!!

Yes, I've seen 454ci resleeved LS1 blocks. You can safely put a 4 inch crank into it.. and I believe the Darton Wet Sleeves can go to 4.125 bore, and MIGHT even be able to get it to stretch to a 4.125 ich stroke as well.

I've also thought about going more cubes, but I think I'd go with an LS2 aluminum block and a 4 inch stroke crank. That's 402 cubic inches, right about what you're looking at and a LOT cheaper than resleeving.

Ditto. I think they got as high as 455 in the Gen IV.

The reason you go with a 402 or 408 is so you can have the extra cubes, but better revving capability since theres not as much stroke.

Don't forget to put a 4 inch stroke crank into it! A stock LS2 shortblock is only 364 cubes with a stock crank.
