get a lid and a k&n airfilter, smooth bellow and slp maf(dont do cut outs under lid because of ram air hood)
you have ram air those items would make a noticable diff especially with that LS6 intake
prob 20-25 hp
next get headers,y,and cat back exhaust
you'll be pretty damn happy
I put everything on my signature on my 99 z which came with 305hp factory and i run on my buddies 01SS with magnaflow and throated t/b and he started with more hp so i would imagine on that car those parts would be even badder ***
and YES its worth it, money is always worth the feel of the seat pushing your back as you smoke the dumb ricer or mustang haha or the occasional vette
good luck

agree with everything above except the slp maf, keep the stocker its fine. And also if you want to get more air in there, do the FRA mod and you should be happy.

you don't have to get the smooth bellows and the stock mass air meter is good for 600+ rwhp.

replacing the MAF on any car not hitting 500+(or even more) is basically a waste of money, time and verbal energy when you tell people that you have one.

Smooth bellows isn't worth it.. search around for the Fernco method, much cheaper and does the same thing.

FRA = Free Ram Air mod, you cut out the extra plastic under the filter to allow more air to be forced in.

Just get the lid and maybe the K&N filter. I'm rocking a paper filter here. Fram FTW. The smooth bellow is purely cosmetic, and as stated, the stock MAF is fine. Don't touch it, port it, decreen it, NOTHING. Just leave it alone.

you dont have to get anything, but anyone who has ever looked at the diff between stock setup and a lid an bellow (singular) knows that there is a diff, people throat t/b's and do t/b bypass's , lid cut outs, descreening maf (I wouldnt)every little bit helps
it made a diff for me and obviously alot of other people or they wouldnt sell them
if your just doin bolt ons and not getting into the motor the maf doesnt hurt anything

if you do a FRA mod on a car with a functional ram air hood your just making one more place for the air to escape
on a car without a ram air hood i agree is a good idea

Way back when I was bone stock my car dynoed 301rwhp with only changing the lid to an SLP lid I dynoed 314 rwhp. Same dyno same night five minutes later. About an hour later I put on a cat back exhaust on, I only gained 8 rwhp but about 20 rwtq.

descreening the mass air and smooth belows r a good idea they picked up 5 hp on my bone stock car so idk why anyone would say not to do it descreening it is free and u can buy pvc rubber connectors for like 8 bucks if they say its not worth the money. 5 hp for 8 bucks and about 20 minutes worth of work seems like a good deal to me

because when you descreen your maf you have taken away the protection from sucking **** in your intake
maybe,,,,,,,,,,,,,MAYBE i'd do it at the track but if messing somethin up is worth the 2 or 3 hp go for it

i drive mine everyday on back roads and the highway and ive had that done for a year and it runs great still. and if ur going to suck something big into ur mass air through ur air filter then damn, u r going to have way bigger problems then a descreened mass air!

The FRA some argue is better for making your filter dirty real quick , I did it but didn't notice anything. It may actually be better than a Ram Air hood as the incoming air is sucked up from under the car where the air is coldest, as oposed to air that is coming through your hood which will heat up if you are driving around in the sun or hot weather. I don't think anyone has ever proven that the ram air T/A's run any better than a normal firebird, aside from pre LS6 intake comparisons.

Some people may argue against this but I would say SLP has a lot of products that sound really good to people that are new to F-bodys and want some easy modifications, but SLP stuff is expensive and in my opinion not worth it. The SLP packages sound really nice but your money would be much better spent elsewhere in my opinion.

I have heard of people having problems after descreening the MAF, then again plenty have done it succesfully.. i stayed away from that and won't ever touch it.

As for descreening the maf. When I bought my car and got it home I was checking everything out. Took the lid off to kinda clean up, and there on the front of my maf, (on the screen) was the celephane wrapper from a cigarette pack. The k&n filter was not sitting right in there and there was a gap in the back. not sure if thats how it got in there, but I am sure glad the prev. owner didnt descreen. That made up my mind about this issue real quick.

it is not needed, but would save my money for "feel in the seat" mods.
