What is the cheapest catback I can buy and from where?
looking to get some basic bolt ons this spring. I don't want to spend $500 for a catback more like $200, is a muffler good enough or should I do a catback?
I also plan on doing a LS6 intake, ported TB, LID and pulleys. I don't want a loud car either just a nice mellow tone, getting too old for loud noisy car and the Cops around here are not too nice.

For what your looking to spend I would recommend you take the $500 and get either a Hooker or Magnaflow Catback (Magnaflow will be alittle more expensive but if you want a nice mellow sound while cruising around town I recommend it), get a used lid and K&N, and do the FRA mod......that's the best place to start IMHO

Some of the cheapest ones you can buy is Flowmasters american thunder cat-back exhaust for about $320 and Edelbrock cat-back for around $280.If you want the best at a decent price I would save up for Magnaflow. They sound mean and will only set you back about $454.Then again you could buy the guys cat-back above me and save about $100 or so.

a catback isn't in the cards for you. just buy an electric cutout. spending $200 on a catback just isn't a good idea IMO. you won't be getting anything quality. the TSP rumbler is okay, but i believe it doesn't come with tips for that price, and of course, it's aluminized, so it'll rust up. IMO, keep the stock exhaust, get a QTP stainless cutout for $45 and just attach an electric cutout or keep it open all the time (like i do).

Go for the cutout, especially if you dont plan on running headers. Hell, i wouldnt even waste my money on an electric cutout because a normal cutout in the stock I pipe isnt really that loud on the outside. What, would you have about $65 in the cutout and having it welded up? Theres a trans-am in my home town that has cutout and a flow master...the cutout stays open. With stock exhaust and cam it would sound pretty clean, and deep since its dumped under the car...and with factory pooptastic cats it wouldnt be too loud.
