Default TC questions

ok, ive looked up search for this question, an got like 2 pages, an still no help. i was lookin online for a TC on vig's site an saw about a $250 difference between a single-disc and multi-disc converter. wut is the difference? i *think* i remember somethin about one of the posts the reader says all the multi-disc does is help lockup the converter at WOT. if thats the case, can someone elaborate further?

also, wut exactly is a lockup? i looked that up, but got like 250 pages gotta headache after a few pages of lookin, so was wonderin if someone culd gimme a quick rundown of a lockup in a TC.

Default lock up

a lock up will do just that when at low load. just like the stocker.

helps with mpg and heat. just nail it or tap the brakes and gas it and boom you got the higher stall back

The lock up settings will not be any different than your stock converter. Only way to change when the converter clutch locks up will be to reprogram the ecm. Most stock settings lock up around 30 to 35 mph in overdrive this is under normal acccleration as it changes depending on how much throttle you give it. hope this helps a little

ok, so all the lockup does is lock my tranny in overdrive at ~35mph (stock) under normal driving conditions?

if im right in that aspect, an i get a TC that stalls at ~3200rpm with a lockup, the company is sayin that, under normal city driving, my tranny will lockup in overdrive at ~35mph (barring any gas punches, hard brakes, etc.), therefore keeping my tach relatively low?

your tranny doesnt lockup, the converter locks up.
