very nice find! low mileage! change oil, plugs/wires (9to10 year old wires...blah), rear end fluid, clean t/b, coolant flush, seafoam!

Sounds nice.

Do a full fluid & filter change all-around, plus plugs. IMO.

Don't forget to change the fuel and air filter. Might consider tranny fluid too. If you do, just avoid ALL the controversy about what fluid will destroy what and buy the OEM GM Dexron III that came in it. It is about $4 a qt and you need 5 qts if you are sloppy and 4 if you are not.

98' - The only year that hardly ever has slap or consumption issues. Just don't do a cam swap without modifying the block and changing oil pumps.

my 98 and every other ls1 ive seen that year has piston slap.the oil pump however is junk get an ls6 or better.as for the block why would it need upgrading im sure they are the same ls1 block as the rest.some of the 02s got the ls6.if you plan on makin a high hp car the rod bolts need upgraded they are a lil weak.

sounds like a nice ride enjoy it.id advise learning the feel of the car before modding it.just change all fluids and filters and a tune up.

Meh, most 98's dont slap. Oil pump is indeed junk.

The oil-return at the back of the 98-99 blocks sucks and they should not be spun over 6300rpm for ANY period of time really due to oil-control issues. This was revised in 00' I belive. Not exactly sure when but I know it was before 01' and not in 98'.
