I would change the plugs for sure, especially since you don't know if they were ever changed before.

The wires could go either way. At 80k it might be a good idea, but it's not urgent unless you have some damaged/worn/burned looking wires.

I agree .
I suggest NGK TR55 (V power) about to $2.00 a plug and 8.5 MSD wires about
$60.00 with shipping for Texas Speed (great sponsor) and there is a great write up on the plugs on www.installuniversity.com

At 79K miles my plugs are still perfect. Gap is .057 and they look great.

I'd change them now. I have a 99 Z28 with 87,000 miles now. i bought it with 81,000 miles and i thought it was runnin good until i realized the plugs that were in there were all bad. I changed the wires and the plugs this weekend with 8.5 msd wires, and the NGK iridiums, and it was runnin better then ever, i also got a cut-out this weekend so that might add to the beastlyness. Dont wait, change the plugs

I bought a package from the ws6store came with the NGK55s and MSD wires. Be shure to remove the pass coilpack makes changing the plugs a snap.

Regardless of what the dealers or manual may say. It is not a good idea to try to get 100k out of the plugs. Change them. And the wires too.
